1945年抗日战争胜利，东北八路军部队俘获了日本关东军第二飞行总队第四练成飞行队的全部人员。在东总和东北局领导及航空队队长陆好天的不懈努力下，终于感动了这支日军教官队伍，使他们留下成为第一代共产党飞行员的教官。教官队伍还是延安航空小组、国民党起义人员、新疆航空队被捕释放人员等。这样一个多方力量汇集一起队伍， 在缺少飞机、燃油，不断躲避国民党军的进攻和追击，克服种种生活困难的战争环境下，培养出了新中国的第一批飞行员。。William Thornhill, an illiterate Thames bargeman and a man of quick temper but deep feelings, steals a load of timber and is transported to New South Wales in 1806.
