本武侠片为林福地编导，由舒佩佩、虞慧及川原主演。故事讲述巡按御史傅秉忠(井淼饰)被皇上降下圣旨令其即行开缺回籍，傅装好两箱书，与仆人取山道回京城。傅主仆二人途中遇见武功不凡的燕书棠(川原饰)、少女史雪兰(舒佩佩饰)与丫环小梅(虞慧饰)，一行人在破庙遭遇匪徒袭击，两箱书被抢走，傅秉忠与史雪兰更被匪徒掳进山洞……。结婚三年的老公连她是谁都不知道。没想到两人第一次会面竟然在床上，一纸离婚协议，她欣然落笔，盛眠本以为他们的人生从此再无交集，却不想，这只是刚开始而已——。MOTHER TONGUE (母语) is a portrait of a Chinese American family in which the consequences of a mother’s decision to leave her young daughter in the care of a white American “homestay” family are slowly unearthed over the course of a family dinner.
